Golden Halo - Frankincense Butter (Face Soufflé)

Naming this a 'Face Soufflé' was the first thing to came to mind after feeling the fluffy, buttery (yet non greasy) texture of this lotion. The consistency is thick like a body butter but feels light as a cream when applied to your face. The best part of this Soufflé is that you will feel hydrated all day, and with consistent use, you'll notice a change in the texture, balance and smoothness of your skin.

Frankincense has gained a lot of popularity in recent years and for good reason. Frankincense is believed to have anti-inflammatory, expectorant, antiseptic, and even anxiolytic and anti-neurotic effects. Contemporary studies have shown that resin indeed has analgesic and anti-bacterial effects. 

Why I chose the ingredients I chose: 

• Horsetail helps to promote collagen. It is also a powerful herb that contains vitamin B5, which acts as a humectant to help plump up the skin. 
• Frankincense can help soothe redness and irritation. It contains Boswellia acid, which are anti-inflammatory compounds that can help with photoaged, oily, and atopic (aka eczema) skin. Boswellic acids can help reduce inflammation by preventing connective tissue breakdown and increasing blood flow to tissues.
• Argan oil is a natural, dry oil that can help your skin regulate its oil production. Argan oil is rich in vitamin E and therefore helps skin retain its natural moisture. It can also help balance hydration for all skin types. 
• Carrot seed oil contains vitamins A and B, which can help moisturize the skin and balance oil and dry skin.
• Rosehip oil contains vitamin C, an antioxidant that protects skin cells from damage. It also contains carotenoids, which help create new skin cells. 
• Black seed oil has so many benefits - it may help manage skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis & acne.
• Amla oil is rich in vitamin C, which helps protect the skin from oxidative stress and free radicals which causes aging.
• Bakuchiol is gentler than retinoids and can be used as a natural alternative for retinol -which is another skincare ingredient that can promote cell turnover.
• Squalane is a powerful emollient, which means it offers skin-smoothing and softening benefits. It is absorbed within minutes, without leaving behind an oily residue. These benefits can make squalane an excellent skincare ingredient for anyone with rough, uneven skin.
• Hyaluronic acid binds moisture to the skin's surface, creating a protective barrier and improving hydration. Hyaluronic acid is a strong humectant which is present in all of our human body tissues! So, it works well with our bodies. H.A. can promote skin cell regeneration, leading to healthier cells and a more vibrant complexion.
• Jamaican Black Castor oil is an effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory oil— both of which help fight free radicals and may help slow the aging process.

Directions: apply to face, neck and anywhere else you feel called to (externally only). For best results use morning and evening. You may even find you can easily wear this as a primer for your make up!
